The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged the Nigerian Government to urgently locate the abducted correspondent with The PUNCH Newspaper, Okechukwu Nnodim, and ensure his immediate and safe release so that he is reunited with his family.
Nnodim was abducted around 11pm on Thursday from his Abuja home off Arab road by four gunmen who gained access to his residence by scaling his fence after firing several gunshots in the air.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP said that President Buhari should ensure a prompt investigation and prosecution of all those responsible.
“The Nigerian government has a responsibility to protect and ensure the security of life and property of everyone in Nigeria.
“The government should take immediate steps to locate Nnodim and bring him to safety,” the statement read.
