Anambra state has reported 218 of new cases of the novel coronavirus, even as 6 more persons were confirmed dead across the country.
Anambra’s tally made it the second most-prolific virus state on Saturday, just behind Lagos state, the country’s epicentre of the global pandemic.
In a late night tweet on Saturday, the Nigeria Centre of Disease Control, NCDC said 20 states across the country reported a total of new 1,588 cases on Saturday.
Nigeria has now recorded 139,242 confirmed cases of the virus, with 112,557 cases discharged and 1,647 deaths.
The breakdown of the new infections by States showed that Lagos recorded 535 new cases ahead of Anambra 218.
Others include Oyo-155, FCT-150, Kano-124, Gombe-60, Kaduna-49, Ebonyi-48, Plateau 46, Akwa Ibom-39, Niger-37, Edo-33, Katsina-23, Rivers-18, Taraba-15, Nasarawa-14, Ogun-11, Delta-9, Ekiti-2, Jigawa-2.
Meanwhile, World Health Organization, WHO, on Saturday said that a total of 16 million AstraZeneca doses of COVID-19 vaccines out of the 88 million allocated to Africa has been received by Nigeria.
