The Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare said that the Federal Government has continued to implement programmes for empowering the youth with training, employment and entrepreneurship.
The Minister stated this in his twitter handle on sunday, listed various programmes being implemented by the government to empower the Nigerian youths;
He wrote, “The President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government has continued to implement programmes for empowering the youth with training, employment and entrepreneurship. Here are 25 opportunities that the Federal Government has provided for the youth.”
Nigeria’s unemployment rate came in at 27.1 percent in the second quarter of 2020, the highest on record. It was the first time since 2018 that Nigeria’s national bureau of statistics published such figures.
It compares to 23.1 percent seen back in the third quarter of 2018. Nigeria has been grappling with the coronavirus pandemic and a plunge in oil prices, which has affected our economic.
President Buhari said in a speech to a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja that our economy may lapse into the second recession in four years, with significant adverse consequences.
Buhari presented a record budget for 2021 of 13.1 trillion naira ($35.3 billion), which represents a more than 20 percent increase from last year’s spending plan.
