Edo Assembly Impeaches Speaker

Members of the Edo State House of Assembly have impeached the Speaker, Hon. Frank Okiye, over allegations of financial misappropriation, barely two weeks after the Edo state governorship election.

His removal from office followed the motion moved by Henry Okhuarobo, representing Ikpoba-Okha State Constituency and seconded by Emmanuel Okoduwa from Esan North East State Constituency.

Marcus Onobun representing Esan West State constituency was immediately elected as the new Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.
